It has a distinct bright red/pink stem that grows upright and anchors this stunning plant. The veiny leaves are arrow-shaped and bright green and are the size of platters, 4-7" across.

Alocasia plants require some extra love and care. For example, the Imperial Red Alocasia prefers a warm, humid environment, so be prepared to mist it weekly. It also prefers moist soil that drains, so the roots do not sit in water. Choose a container with a drainage hole and saucer, like the from Momma Pots or one of the available from Chive.
